Eventually, heavily used hookah bowls would need to be scraped and cleaned. Because of the cumbersome design of the fixed bowl, someone decided to create a bowl that could be removed for easier cleaning and filling. This was the birth of the bong bowl or slide that we know today. Over the years, the designs have changed styles, shapes, even the materials with which they are made. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is the fact that this design is clearly more user-friendly. In fact, aside from size and shape, it’s still the exact creation we use on modern bongs today.
