Looking for something with more color? Sculpting something truly unique? You’re looking for a new piece, but not just any new piece. You, my friend, are looking for some heady glass. Heady glass is a style that utilizes a lot of complex techniques and expensive materials. Because of this, typically only the best glass blowers can even afford to make heady pieces (and that’s only if they know how, it’s an art form). So, you want a new heady, and your wallet is ready? Well, you just so happen to be in the right place. Brothers With Glass has a heady collection that rivals that of even the biggest and best brick and mortar shops. So what are you waiting for? Let’s start our journey into the heady universe and see if you can’t pop out on the other side with a new rad piece of glass to show off.
The fact of the matter is, heady glass is expensive. Always. Even if you know the person who made it, usually. So when your local “glass guru” offers you a “heady” for a hundred bucks, you can assume that it is not a true heady piece. In fact, price is not the only way you can tell if a piece is truly heady glass. Just by looking at it, most people will be able to tell. Joints not welded properly, small imperfections in the shape or color. Lack of detail and complexity of design. All of these things are good to look for when scooping a heady from some random person. Luckily, we aren’t just some random person. Here at Brothers With Glass, we pride ourselves on doing the research for you so you can be comfortable knowing that pretty penny you saved up goes to an actual heady piece.
You may be asking yourself, “Why exactly are heady rigs so expensive?” Excellent question. Let me see if we can better explain the reasons. First off, bongs, dab rigs, pipes, etc. are all just products. They’re blown glass products but still a commodity nonetheless. That means that there are two ends of the buyer spectrum. On one end, a buyer can find a piece for cheaper if all they want is something that will work for its intended purpose. These can be mass produced in factories in large numbers because of the lack of detail and work that goes into making each one. A heady piece is the exact opposite end of that spectrum. A single heady piece can easily take an artist hole days, or even weeks to complete. Painstakingly adding colors and designs and custom aspects for the specific customer depending on if it is a commission piece or part of a certain line of work they make. For that reason, the price goes up dramatically.
Think of it this way. A plain white T-shirt that was made at an automated factory as one of a thousand a day is cheap. However, a hand-stitched, intricately designed, colorful, patterned T-shirt would be way more expensive. They are both shirts. They both function as a shirt in that they cover your torso. But one of the shirts will likely fit better, be more comfortable, and garner you more attention from others. For those reasons, some people would be willing to pay upwards of ten time as much for the nicer shirt. The same applies to heady glass. Sure, you can just go buy some china glass and it will most likely work. But it isn’t anything to write home about. If a heady is what you want, you shouldn’t settle for less.
