Ah, quartz bangers. The peanut butter to the dabber’s jelly. These necessary accessories may be small, but they are oh so important. Without a proper banger of some kind, a dab rig simply cannot function. However, that doesn’t mean that just any banger will do the trick. To get the maximum potential out of your new piece, the perfect quartz banger must be located. Luckily for you, we’ve got plenty to choose from!
The evolution of the quartz banger has been a long one with a lot of innovation over the years. Before dabbing, there was “Hot Knifing” in which knives (usually butter knives) were heated red hot and used to smash a chunk of hash. Over the years, some stoners started making small glass paddles that worked in the same way. Flash forward a few years (15-20) and it finally happened. The first bucket-style quartz banger (as we know it) was invented. Dabbing has exploded since then and countless innovations have been made but most people still rock with some kind of bucket-style banger to this day.
At this point you might be thinking to yourself, “A banger is a banger, right?” While it may seem that way to many people, in reality, not all bangers are created equal. There are a bunch of different sizes and styles in the world of quartz bangers, and finding the right fit for you and your glass is key. So, before you can go picking out a banger, you’ll need to know a little bit about your glass first. Things like whether you have a female or a male joint, and what size it is.
Male glass joints (where your banger fits onto the rig) are tapered and come to a point away from the rig. These joints will require a female banger that fits over the outside of the joint. A female glass joint is the exact opposite. Instead of a point, they will look more like an inward tapered cone or a hole that you can fit a male banger into. Boom, now you know what kind of joint you’re looking for on your new quartz banger!
Next up, let’s figure out what kind of banger best fits your personal dabbing needs. Are you a small dab person or do you glob it up on the regular? Do you prefer your dabs on the hot side or are you more of a cold start lover? What kind of carb caps do you currently have in your collection? All of these are necessary questions to ask yourself while shopping for a new quartz banger. Luckily for you, no matter how you answer them, we have what you need.
A person that does big dabs may want to look into getting a deeper banger or possibly something with a flared bottom. If you’re more interested in heat retention, a core reactor banger would probably work best for you. Perhaps you’re one of those people that stresses about keeping your quartz banger clean of any wax residue. If so, why not try out a quartz insert? They’re a great way to get a nice, even temperature dab and keep the inside of your banger clean (for the most part).
Feeling like taking a step outside the ordinary? No problem, we’ve got you covered in that department too. The “Terp Slurper” design is similar to a standard banger but it has a flared out bottom with holes that “slurp” your terps up into the center. These are usually capped with a solid marble. You may also be interested in a dab vac. This design incorporates a hollow quartz rod on a silicone tube that is heated and then stuck into a tray where the concentrates are placed.
No matter what style of banger you need, we have exactly what you’re looking for. Round bottoms, flat to, angled top, core reactor. You name it, we have it here at Brothers With Glass.
